    Artist’s Statement

I am a painter and a musician who possesses two degrees in English literature. In trying to piece together how these disparate elements influence my art, I realize I have always wanted to be part of something beautiful and add to the dialogue of creativity. When I think about why I paint what I paint, I realize that whether I am painting a landscape or a portrait of my daughter, I am really just attempting to paint light and the passage of time, and their effects on the people and objects in my life. It is a perpetual challenge – what could be more difficult and elusive than capturing a trick of light, or a moment in time?

Thus, I am always striving to improve – which is why I study with the amazing Carol O’Malia (omalia.com).

I am currently focusing on oil painting but I also work in various other media such as acrylics, pastel, ink, and pencil, as well as collages with made with strips of paper.

I sell my work via my website, patriciabossange.com and by commission. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thank you, Helen Bumpus Gallery, for this opportunity. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There's much more beneath and to come.
