Amelie Sellitto Awarded Bumpus Gallery Scholarship
Amelie Sellitto, DHS Class of 2026, has been selected by the Board of Directors to receive this year’s Helen Bumpus Gallery art scholarship.
Helen Bumpus Gallery awards an annual $500 scholarship to a graduating Duxbury senior to encourage continued study in the visual arts. Amelie had been enrolled in DHS art classes throughout her time in the Duxbury Public Schools. In high school she completed Drawing and Painting I and II as well as AP art. This past year she also pursued an independent study in Architecture.
"I am highly interested in architecture and have developed a strong passion for the field, which I plan to pursue as my major in college. I plan to attend Tulane University this fall, where I will major in architecture and minor in business, allowing me to further develop my design skills while gaining a strong foundation in project management, entrepreneurship, and the real-world applications of the field.
"Over the summer, I interned at Lineal Designs, an architecture firm, where I worked closely with lead architects Ben and Alyssa Lemora. I shadowed them throughout their workdays, attended client meetings, and visited various job sites. This experience provided me with valuable knowledge and insight into the field of architecture.
"During my independent study this school year, I continued to stay in touch with them. In addition, I ran a four-day art camp for approximately 20 students in grades 4–5, where I taught watercolor techniques. At school, I am an active member of the DHS Art Club and the National Art Honor Society." –Amelie Sellitto
The Board of Directors presents the annual Conant Award in special recognition of an artist whose exemplary work was exhibited in the Gallery during the previous year. This award was established by a donation from Esther Conant to honor her friend, Helen Bumpus.
