Paintings from the Road
Artist Statement
I was born and raised on Boston’s South Shore and have been painting for many years mostly in oil and watercolor. I particularly enjoy outdoor landscape painting.
As a member, since 1994, of the studio group, 4th Floor Artists, I have taught classes and workshops in both of these mediums and have shown and sold my work widely in galleries and other venues. Our diverse group of artists has held an annual Open Studios for the past 20 plus years, inviting the public into our workspaces and fostering relationships in our local area.
In 2005, inspired by Duane Keiser's Painting a Day blog, I started my blog - Just Painting - and began a quest to paint with a disciplined approach in an effort to hone
my painting skills and create a body of work. I found that the blogging world was a perfect support system which created incentive to challenge myself and also provided feedback and encouragement from artists and viewers alike. It also introduced me to a world of other artists whose work inspires me every day and helped me develop a following from all over the globe.
In 2009, a fellow artist friend suggested forming a Painting Challenge group where we would interpret a monthly topic and post it to our blog. Thus, we became, “Girls Just Wanna Paint”.
