A special exhibit by former presidents of the Helen Bumpus Gallery was shown in September and October of 2011. The exhibit included works by Katherine Smit, Lilly Cleveland & Jan Zabilski.
Lilly Cleveland
Duxbury artist Lilly Cleveland's works include watercolor still lifes, landscapes and figures. Lilly is a Juried Gallery Artist at South Shore Art Center and a Juried Artist at Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable and New Hampshire Art Association. She teaches at the "Artist in Residence" program at South Shore Art Center in Cohasset.
Katherine Smit
Over 30 years as a professional artist, Katherine Smit has established her studio in her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Although her specialty is pastel portraiture, Katherine's watercolor and oil paintings of still life and local New England scenery have won many awards and hang in many homes, corporate offices and galleries.
Jan Zabilski
Jan Zabilski is a portrait and landscape artist residing in Duxbury, MA. Since childhood, Jan exhibited a passion for the portrait. When her youngest child entered school, Jan sought out teachers whom she could learn under and was happy to find a local portrait artist, Katherine Smit (also showing at this exhibit).
Jan has taken classes and workshops under the New York artist Daniel Greene, among others, and studied at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts. She is now enrolled in The Academy of Realist Art in Boston, studying drawing and painting in the tradition of the old masters.
