The photographic images Dorothy Amore Pilla creates speak to her observation, reflection, and supposition about the subject of her photographs. As she composes her digital images in Photoshop, her work represents not what actually exists, as a documentary photograph might, but rather her impressions, interpretation and transformation of the reality originally encountered. Artistic license and Photoshop tools are essential to her subtle reconstruction of reality.
Dorothy’s early concentration in printmaking, drawing, painting, and traditional photography has had a significant impact on her current work. Her roots as a printmaker are reflected in the layering and multiple-imagery in her current work and, as in printmaking, each image evolves through a series of stages. Working digitally for Dorothy is much like the manipulation of color and form in layers using virtual pigment and tools to create dynamic solutions.
Norwell photographer Tom Sheehan pursues many aspects of photographic work, including wedding and portrait photography, as well as wedding album and photo book design services. He exhibits his environmental photography at many South Shore libraries and galleries.
